I'm questioning the law itself, not whether this is a contradiction of the law, which is not worth even talking about as it obviously is

Smaller plate is illegal really, but often can get away with it, or if pulled advised to change it the first time, any times after that and they can get arsey about it.

Why do people bother buying the ones that are not even close to what they want them to be then blatantly just stick screw covers and things on them to make them into different letters

Smaller numberplates dont actually affect the anpr machine, only if the font is a diffrent style or font is a diffrent size,it wouldnt pick up the plate.

here you go ol' chap
What do you think about front plates for bikes?
The BMF got them abolished in 1975 as the old blade type on the front mudguard was lethal to pedestrians. If they were brought back in a front facing form, can you say why bikes should be excluded? After all, even the most streamlined of sports cars has to have a front plate.... Tell us what you think

I think it should be one law for all, absolutely no reason why bikes should be excluded from the law.

If you combined that with a lavish boarder and a chrome back plate you'd be swamped sir.

Yeah, I remember seeing those ones now. Could never really see the point in them as they did seem a bit lethal and could only be read from the side.
What's the BMF Ben?
You'd think, judging by how small a bike rear plate is that there would be room somewhere on the front of a bike for a similar or smaller one, especially considering as you say, even the most aerodynamic car must wear a front plate.

Rigid mudguard plate or not. When on foot, getting hit full on by some nutter on a two wheeled death machine can't really be much of a picnic under any circumstance I would have thought.

does it earn you extra flange down at mcdonalds having these smaller plates?
whats the advantage?
Just what i was going to say, lol.
The fonts too small on that plate, so it's illegal, so you were right to get a fine.......
