I remember when i said what steve said in another thread about showcages, everyone turned agaisnt me to

Show cages are pathetic imo.

They dont make it any safer, seeing a car with an interior and a cage just looks stupid.

Especially when theyre chrome proper cages arent chrome

Might aswell just get sum scaffolding chromed and whack it in.

Especially when for a few quid more you can buy a proper cage

Remind me what purpose a spoiler serves on a road car? What about a nice paint colour? Alloy wheels? Side skirts?

Steve I believe

The whole Top Gear cool wall. Hammond and Clarkson don't get their opinion even noted, that's steve telling them where to place those cars on that wall!

Im suprised people are defending them?

How is a fake cage gonna look good?

It looks stupid and you can see the brackets holding it in
how that looks good ill never know?

Plus i cant see having a big lump of metal inside your car rather safe for the rear passangers

Why do people even think bolted/welded in cages look good its a safety device you hardly need them in a road car (unless track/rally use etc)

Do you know that, the dimma cage above is the actual cage owned by B3KAN

My mate got it made by dimma for his 206 way back in the day, it was developed in his car, and his car was used for the advertising

I bought the cage, had it a month then sold it to B3KAN

Show cages can actually be very dangorous if you were to ever have a crash, ill try and find a video but there is one floating about on the world wide web showing a car fitted with one in a crash the main beam that runs across your roof which suports both sides of the cage if hit from the side will start to bend outwards untill it finnaly snaps then were are the broken polls going to go, or if you flipped on to your roof it'll just crumple making it alot more difficult to get out ect, although saying that i still think they look really good in certain cars

You don't have to clamber over a spoiler to get into your seat, the paint colour doesn't enclose you in the back of the car and sideskirts don't resemble metal tubing from a building site.

As said before its all about the looks, some like them some dont. same goes for alloys/spoilers/bodykits etc

I personally like the look of them thats why I had one fitted in my 106 gti

Its all about personal taste

As for the unsafe comments there has never been proof of anything bad happening to someone in an accident with one of these fitted to there car

obviously it depends on what car, what cage to prove the cage is not safe.

Such a stupid thread, <no offence>. But I think i'm going to start a thread tomorrow 'Why do people buy alloys, its weaker than steel therefore unsafe'

What alloy is weaker than steel?

I'm sure not every alloy is weaker that steel.

I'm also sure that you don't know the relatives strengths of alloys and steel.

Alloys are a taste thing, which these show cages also are but if a non car enthusiast asked what the bars in the back of your car done what would you say?

So you think it would be safe,What happens in a crash you get thrown about, even with a seatbelt on you get thrown around, and i can safely say i wouldnt wanna crack my head open on some chrome scaffolding

Even rally cars have padding around their cages for such an incident.
