Im in the Southwest, PL25
My sat nav seems to think its 227.4 miles but Im sure its further away than that.
Did a postcode to postcode calculater thing on the internet the other day measuring the distance by roads and it came to 270 miles.

Couple hundred miles there & back over the weekend is nothing, I do almost 100 every day just going to my work. If its mostly motorway what are we talking hour & a half.....2hr max?
Just go, there will be plenty people to look after you there, Uncle Ian will be there to wipe your bum & Willay to tuck you in at night

Its not about the show, its the trip itself, my Dad said its a flat out No, I did play the 'Im 18 I should be allowd to do what I want Card' but got the same response.
I then came out with Im going anyway and apoligised for putting them under stress but just got laughed at.
Mentioned I was still going, and got some sarcastic responses.
I have the full intention on going, just gotta leave stupidly early in the morning so they don't see me go

i wanna go for the weekend, but my bf just keeps saying (i dont see the point in taking 2 cars when we can go on sunday)
but if we go just on sunday it would mean us settin off around 6.30 to get there if im goin to show my car, then we have got to take the kids, it wil be a long day for them, and no where for them to go,
but if we got on saturday we would take the camper n we can go back there any time we want ie feed the kids

If you can't get the practice in then it's pretty much going to be difficult. It's a lot of miles, potentially not much sleep if you were thinking about camping, then a drive home as well. It's as much about stamina and being alert as it is outright driving aptitude.
I can see exactly the concern and I think you've a difficult job convincing them that by June you'll be ready for it, particularly with them not on board to get there.
Is there no one down your way you could travel over with? There's a bit of interest in SW forum. Your hurdle there of course is that you still need to get to Devon or Bristol and leave your car somewhere and also convince your parents that going on holiday with people you've never met is actually a sane thing to do.
You've plenty of time to befriend some locals though. You might even find someone in a similar position who wants petrol money but doesn't know anyone. My advice in this case would be get a thread up in SW to see who is going, go the pub beforehand and get to know people then make your plans from there.
Whatever you do, do not fly from Cornwall to Northampton

OK advice noted
Im planning to go with 2 mates in my car, one passed his test middle of last year and drives to London once a month to visit his sister, so hes offered to help me out on the way there if I need it, which is really helpful.
I don't think my parents will ever agree to me going so I don't think I should try asking for the permission anymore
There is a few people on my local forums going up in small convoys, problem being is most of them have something above a 1.6 in engine size, and I only plan on staying in the first 2 lanes on the motorway
I just think It might be better to go up with my mates in my car instead of following others up.
I have a Sat Nav and lots of maps so I should be ok
I know what you mean about Camping and not getting much sleep, but I don't drink alcohol, seriously I don't drink if thats what you mean about the camping, so being drunk or hungover shouldn't be a problem.

No it's just about actually not getting much sleep. Last year we turned the lights off at 1am and were up at 5. Then a full day at the show, that drive home for me is hard. I stop a LOT.
If you're sharing the driving make sure you're all properly insured even if it means spending a bit more money.
And the most important piece of advice in this post do not even consider going in convoy. Convoys are usually accidents waiting to happen.

Its just going to be me driving, and not shared.
I can understand what you mean about the Sleeping side of things, and do plan regular stops on the way there and back.
Never been a fan of convoys, as much as people try and say and act sensible I can never trust them.

NEVER drive tired
as for the motorway, go out for a random mooch just to get some motorway miles under your belt, I passed my test then on the way home from buying my corsa came home down the M6
you may not be as confident as I was, just take it easy and go on when its less busy at first

I have chosen who I take with me carefully, the 2 people I am taking are really into there cars like I am, and I can trust them not to put me off when driving(turning music up etc.)
I know a few people into there cars, but most of them would be the type of people who drove like idiots all the way there if we did convoy up.
Which is what I do not want at all.

Its not really that I lack confidence, Im more than happy to go out and drive anywhere and learn from it, gain some experience.
I think the main thing is having the acceptence from my parents to go, and I know this sounds incredibly sad, but I take and accept alot of advice from my Dad because hes been there and done it, I think this is one time I need to make an exception.

You've got some pretty good advice on here so far, the best thing to do now is listen to it!!
As for driving on the motor way get up to exeter and take a road trip up to Bristol or something, Like Ian said try and go to a SW meet or something make some friends/contacts, as for convoys of 1.6's, so what!!! the fact that they can out accelerate you means nothing when your all slowed down to 50 on pretty much any motorway in the country because of heavy traffic/road works....blah blah blah.
I used to drive to cardiff and back from oxford on the M4 all the time in my 12v Sting, it'll do over 70 which is more than you need, take it steady accept the fact that you've got abit to learn and you'll do fine.
Hope this doesnt sound patronising, its not ment that way, good luck with whatever you decide, might bump into you there!

The advice has been superb, and I have listened to it and accepted it as its been brilliant.
I do accept the fact that I will be 'learning', I never said I was Mr.Know it All or the Stig.
The locals who are going up to PVS all have bigger engines, and I know for a fact they will drive 80+ most of the way and in some case will drive stupidly.
I'd rather drive up by myself at my own pace and take breaks when I want to.
I just don't trust anyone, as much as they say "Im not going to be bombing it all the way, I will stay along with you" I still dont trust them

Yep sounds reasonable enough, i know what you mean it is a risk, especially with people you havent driven with before.
You sounds like you've got your head screwed on pretty good, so like i said earlier good luck to you and enjoy it! motorways in my mind are boring as, but road trips with mates in the car are always a giggle!
