Go for a Corsa - you know them inside out, any problems are relatively cheap to fix. 12v all the way imho.

id say 106/205/306....205's can get good runners for £750...my mates brothers got a mint one...just has 119k on the clock and has had a rebuild...its great though dont skip a beat...old skool fun HANDLES AMAZING! I'd go diesel to be honest though...as running 2 cars will be dear! may aswell get ure mpg out of ure runabout?! could get a fair few rover there aswell surely 214/216 etc...ones with the honda engines last forever...uncle just sold his with 180k on the clock! used it everyday for plumbing job lol. probably see more for £1250 tbh...what about a 106 ph1 rallye...or could easily go for a calibra, cavvy, astra, corsa, nova all so cheap....the 1.5td corsas and 1.7's are great for a run around...1.7 will nearly do 600 miles to a full tank! was my first car loved it...felt like u never filled it up. I was thinking this the other day...i want to do a c20xe conversion on my corsa and was looking at cars for a grand...i think i wud go for 106 rallye or 205 gti (1600) for pure fun...also seat arosa's? cheapish and mpg is defo there lol
