spot on imo, I had it perfect last time at crail, killed everything off the lights then the turbo's caught and passed me, beat a few cars that are quicker than my celica purely becuase they couldnt catch me after the launch.

its still racing. its not actually as easy as you think either. you have to really know the car and the engine to get the best from it and the best times.

plus, its fun.

lol, carl, lol.

Don't worry about getting a good reaction time at a RWYB, wait til the light is green or you risk jumping the start and wasting a run.

As for an optimum method of launching, it depends on the day, weather, time, how many cars have been in front of you, if there's been an oil spill, what car you're in, what tyres you're using.

The only way to do it is to practice, at santa pod.

I tried a few launches the night before I went to a RWYB the other week, got there, and the surface and conditions were totally different so I had to work it out there and then.

That's something I've wondered for a while. Does the counter start as the lights go green, or do you have to pass a certain point before it starts?

If so then you reaction time counts for everything, surely?

just like traffic lights,

when it goes green deck it!

think my reaction is about .45

much less and its a guess/luck

santa pod isnt a very grippy surface, infact its shit

reaction time is the time between the lights going green and you moving

timer doesnt start until you move

santa pod is probably the best in the country. you should try others. crail is terrible, elvington isnt much better.

I know what you meant

My bike is still tucked in garage atm, I'll get it out in the summer and go along to one of these normal RWYB, I'm not going to do it as a special event.

I'm also scared of launching, first gear scares the shit out of me!

That's fine mine will be out in a month or two, just whenever we get a bright day!

I'm really not sure where I would be nor what speed I'd cross the line at, I'll look up some specs

i remember watching them at brighton before

i think my dads bike would do it in 12 sconds at 120ish mph (yamaha xjr 1300)

i guess about 12.5-13 mine would do it in? at about 100-110

Can't find any official figures, but most guys a Kwak forum are running late 10's, crossing the line at 130mph, mental for a 600 with just a slip on exhaust.

Some guy did a 12sec just on the back wheel
