after a right mess about this morning i'm finally getting somewhere. looks like i managed to cancel my debit card before any more dodgy stuff went on. there is only the £828 that has gone. that is a paypal issue now so have to wait 10 days to find out the outcome. i've also managed to defer my mortgage payment til the end of march so i don't have to worry about them charging me for insufficient funds. just hope i get that money back as its gonna cause me a real problem.

Did you send your old email address abuse using your new email address?

C2RL R - a few months ago someone tried to take £2000 from my other half's PayPal account!
Luckily PayPal themselves saw it was a fraudulent transaction and reversed it, unfortunately as she had only a debit card linked to the PayPal account at the time the physical money went out of her bank account as well but luckily put back in the next working day.

For those who have a debit card account linked to paypal, is it worth unlinking these?

The payment was reversed on PayPal itself, then I presume they credited the physical cash back on to the card automatically at the same time.
They might ask you for your bank details or just deposit the money back into your PayPal account as you've cancelled the card and unlinked it in PayPal.
