mike, if you do a 1.8 then a turbo conversion on that engine, it will have cost you a lot more than a c20let engine conversion id say. isnt the kit from regal to turbo one of them engines 5k or something stupid?

From what i've heard, you can use the Z18XE ECU on the XE1 not 100% though.

yeah, but they only make good power on regals rollers.

mine made decent power on another set of rollers other than regal's?

otherwise it did make alot more/developed more transmission loss on their rollers

Most scrap yards now meet the ELV reg's and the cars are alot more accessible they also should have forklifts etc on site..

My local scrap yard is a gem had a few engines out down there takes no time with the help of the fork lift and a bit petrol cutter!

its about £450 to get a 1.6 to 130bhp. What bhp and torque are these 1.8 engines, and what performance mods are available without bolting on a turbo

More torque on the 1.8.. And obvioulsy a standard engine is more relaible..

Vauxhall RUINED the X16XE/X14XE in the corsa/tigra with all the crap they added onto the engine .. The X18XE1 is far more simplistic, no stupid Aux air injection, coilpack, better designed inlet etc.

So what the differences between a z18xe (apart from fly by wire) and the x16xe, is the z18xe a stroked x16xe with the stupid inlet and emissions shit taken off? Or is it completely redesigned?
