Bigger bore exhaust system.

2" at the very minimum.Dosnt need to be a calibra manifold,just try get the manifold with the engine.

And if your handy with a welder the shafts can be welded.

Are you going to try get a full running scrap car??


I would like to buy a donor car will cost too much to buy a full running calibra.

im not handy with a welder so wont be welding the shafts.

I have a magnex back bow on mine with a remus straight through center pipe so if i get a engine with the manifold too will that fit my exhaust system?

Dosnt need to be calibra.Could try get a cavalier.

Whats the internal diameter of the Remus??If its standard spec then itl no be much good.The standard bore on Corsa's is too small and really holds the car back with an XE fitted.
The manifold wont join straight up but you can buy a section which makes it join up,or get an exhaust place to match it up.
Theres always folk over on Mig selling exhaust systems for XE converted corsa's and they dont ask for much.

Its a pity you werent closer to fife as my mate does drive in,drive out XE conversions for £800.

I have tried looking for a cav or an astra with the XE engine in but these is nothing close to me available.even a complete calibra is miles away so not sure really what to do.

Its really starting to sound like a pain in the arse this conversion.

wish i could find someone so i can drive then drive away with it completed tbh

you'll still need to change the inner CV's, just gsi shafts fit right on, outter CV's attach straight to the hubs

Throw yourself in head first at the deepend , I think you're just getting confused, because from you're other threads you're clearly not an idiot! Get someone to help you out who has done it before, surely someone on here local to you? It's not really too bad, once you're in head first, and once you see something doesn't fit or something, you'll think "ahh that's what so and so was on about".

Cheers Kev it is a little confusing to me as im not really a mechanical minded person but there is a couple of lads local to me that has done one or two conversions before.

Also one of the lads has some parts thats on my list so that helps a lot too.

Does the engine have to go in up through the bottom of the car or does it drop straight in?

Well it's real easy to drop in and out of the bottom, due to you can just raise the car, and drop the mounts , Some people also just put the block in for example, get head-work done etc, then put it all together.

So hang on, using Corsa GSi shafts and you change the inner driveshaft joints? to 1988 1.6 Cav ones? And they pop straight into the Big block (F20) gearbox?

yeah, with the gsi hubs you just run normal outter cv's

1.2 shafts can be used too i believe, and the half the mounts!

Agree it will save people putting up a post after post every time they are considering or doing a conversion.

1.0 12v top hose for the right hand side of the rad (thermostat housing)

Transducer from digi dash
Rear coolant gallery from an astra

belt for pas pump.

to make life easier, it fits better using the early xe twin v belt set up intead of the multi belt one also.

you dont need anti roll bar spacers if you dont have an anti roll bar. if you dont have one i wouldnt bother fitting one.

ecotec adapter plate and pipe or powercap also needed unless you want to cut bulkhead and use sfi box

cone filter maybe?
