Thing is though, where does this money come from? It gets added on at the next fare increase, so no-one really wins.

willay also gets a company car. I hate this guy

In all fairness, willay is a top bloke.

Cost me £380 including underground using Oyster card for 1 month to a work placement. Luckily I claimed it all back.

One reason I won't work in London because of the cost. On a starting wage, it would be pointless as you couldn't save for your future etc blaa blaa.

My job now about 30 miles round trip will cost about 2 tanks of fuel per month. Big big different.

I get free travel in and around London, which helps. I'm glad I don't have to pay as it'd be a huge bit out of my income.

I would have a car anyway so factoring in cost of servicing, tyres etc doesn't really count. But train travel to where I work per month (3 stops on the train) is about £90. It is cheaper than that in fuel, even in my 12v. And then I'd still have a 30min walk / folded bike ride the other side.

Silly silly government. And then they reward economical cars with £35 tax per year, it's a no brainer.

That is a killer. I don't think i'm cut out for big city life. I'd really have to love my job to be able to spend an hour a day stood up on a train paying nearly 3k for the dis-pleasure.

Unfortunately, if I want a career in the industry i'm in, it has to be in London. There is no other option.

Have you commuted before long-distance? It's horrible.

I resigned from my job after a week after I got shifted to the Dubai office in the arse end of nowhere.

Yeh I've done this exact journey before in a previous role.

And it's hardly long distance, it works out about an hour door to door.

I still commute but it's not too bad at all. It's just the cost that fucks me off.

My journey is around 70 miles per day against the 90 i used to do.

It's a strange old rant

A Northerner I tend to agree with Matt H though

I know its a real word I just just dont see the point in it.

Anyways, back on topic..... Make no wonder no fucker uses Public Transport through choice. I got on a bus this weekend that went the wrong way down a country road. It then tried to do a 3 point turn, broke down and everyone on the bus was asked to get out and try push the fucking thing so it could be moved out of the way

I've had to turn down job in Leeds due the extra cost of Public Transport, not to mention the time factor. I'd sooner earn less and be able to get to work and back a lot quicker and more comfortably in my own car.

How much?

Bejesus.

I'd be learning to ride for that sort of money.
