And to continue on my point, it was only marginally quicker around their track than an R32

Biggest overhyped piece of turd EVER.

If you were intelligent you would spend 10k on an ST, and spend 5k making it better than the RS and have 10k in your back pocket for high class hookers.

Was so pleased the R26R won, sick to death of RS this RS that when infact it's pretty fucking average.

I dont bum off the rs like others but imo it handled very well on the TG track, if you watched the RS exit the hammer head you can see how planted it is and also..... bare in mind the R26R is stripped so much lighter and had road legal semi slicks on...

Nahh this was a magazine.

At haters.... tbh, I think with the Focus, for s a FWD 1400kg car, its great.

Why's it better than the R26? Drag race part 1 really. Can't imagine my shopping, my eggs, bread, soft cakes, doing too well in the back of the Renault. Kids might like the climbing frame in the back, but I don't think the old PC Plod would be too happy to see the wippets upside down round the framework.

And if you wanted a really quick track car, would you REALLY have a £25k Renault, or a 2nd hand Radical........ A proper full on race car....

Focus was superior.

What they also didn't say was the titanium exhaust is like £1500 on the Renault too. And you have to pay for the cage etc....

I know what i'd rather drive every day...

All I could find was...

* carbon fibre bonnet (saves 7.5kg)
* tailgate and rear side windows in polycarbonate (saves 5.7kg)
* Sabelt seats with carbon fibre shell and aluminium base (saves 25kg)
* Six-point harnesses
* Rear spoiler
* Optional roll cage
* Optional titanium exhaust

I know the "optional" cage comes up at £700. Can't find a exhaust price, but its an "option" so im guessing its the £1500 I thought?

Out of those 2 I'd have the RS. I dont drive on a track so I dont need semi slick tyres or bendy windows or scaffolding instead of back seats or lightweight titanium exhausts etc. If Hammond is a fan that means he'll be rabbiting on about feeling the texture of the road through his finger tips or some other crap and by that point I've died through a combination of boredom and looking at his head of Spaniel hair. Having said all that the R26R is impressive on a track, tis just not my bag.

I want some good old big power... and a radio

And the bit about the torque steer, yes I bet it has torque steer but if you did the same test in most FWD cars it'd be exactly like that If I wanted a brand new hot hatch I'd walk past the Megane & Focus and get in a MK6 Golf GTI despite the lack of power

Thing is I know a full titanium exhaust for a bike cost £700+, so for a car, which will use a lot more material.....

Titanium is not a cheap material, just like carbon fibre.

Not much in it between the renault and the RS, if the renault had more power it would piss all over the RS, BUT its not really a road car so RS wins.

I can't believe they even tested the two side-by-side really. The type of person wanting the RS isn't going to be even remotely interested in the megane are they.

Completely different cars and can't believe they seriously considered them competitors.

There isn't much to compare it with apart from an astra VXR really, they should have done that.
