How much are these sort of bikes setting you guys back?
Im looking into buying a decent bike after xmas just for trekking about in the woods/forrests etc but dont know where to start.

if you are only gonna be doing forest trails then a XC hardtail will be good enough. you need to be spending at least £500 if you are wanting something half decent.

I used to be well in to my biking until I was about 16, would love to get back in to it but none of my mates are that interested anymore and I cant talk them in to it!

And cant go on my own

Mine was £524 (rrp was £750)

Look at http://wiggle.co.uk for bikes and gear. Has to be the cheapest place i can find atm!

I have that exact same bike, although some of the parts are different from standard on both of ours.

Well that one was a 2008 Epic Expert. We still have our 2007 Epic Expert there aswell just lying around not doing much

What sort of a decent bike/set-up could i buy myself for around the £600 mark?
Im not very knowledgeable when it comes to bicycles
I would be using it alot for travelling to work and every week or so going for rides in the forrest/woods etc.
