I don't think an amazing expensive hotel is a necessity as you will be out all day and night exploring, all you really need it for is a base. But, obviously, you don't want to stay in a hostel either

Our hotel was amazing but never really saw it - but we got a very very good price

I believe you're allowed back up the Statue Of Liberty now? Last time I actually managed to go up it was 1991 Last time I went to NY was 2006, but would like to get back this year

Allowed into the base of the structure - if you get there early enough as its limited tickets

Still cant go up there though since 9/11

Yeah you can although i cant remember what the tour guide said but im sure she said there was a waiting list to go up it but that may have bin for something else

if you can get the one we stayed in then go for that

Great location - although most are - its trade off

One hotel can be close to something but far away from somewhere else

We chose central park side as it was on broadway so literally 10 mins to 42nd street

stayed in it twice now, cant grumble lowest floor is 12 iirc so dont hear much noise, just fucked if you dont like lifts beds were fairly comfy too rooms are cleaned every day too which i wasnt expecting 5 min walk (if that) to center of timesqaure so great location imo.

Tbh when i go back ill be staying there again.

I went in 1993 and stayed in a hotel across the road from Madison Square Gardens. There was a big concert on one of the nights I was there.

Went to Coney Island, Statue of Liberty and up the Empire State Building. Awesome view!
