air con, alloys, cam chain (no belt, no need to change) tax is £125 a year, and for an added bonus cruise control can be retro fitted pretty easily.

Big kiss

It's only the dervs which seem to have gone up in price.

Naaa don't fancy a 306.

Think I might try and track down a nice Exclusiv. Keep an eye out for ones for sale privately.

why spend £5k

go out and get a 1.7 TD astra for 500- 700 with as long an MOT as possible, when it breaks / needs a belt scrap it and buy another one, dont see the point in spendng £5k on a car you dont want to enjoy

As much as it gauls me to admit it, i'd say your best bet would be a focus Deano.

I would suggest the Astra too but steering faults on these are far too costly and common for it to better tha focus in the purchasing stakes.

I know i'd never spend that kind of money on a daily driver and if I had 5k to spend on a car I know exactly what it would be going on and it wouldn't be getting wasted on some paltry, mundane eurobox daily beater.

Unless you're dead set on pissing five grand away, i'd say get an earlier focus and just kill that every day. They seem to go on and on and on in spite of all kinds of abuse and neglect.

Fiesta Zetec-S TDCi is the one to go for mate.

I bought mine with the full ST bodykit, lowered on eibach springs, K&N panel filter, 17" multispokes and facelift headlights for £5.5k

Only £35 a year tax, 50+mpg and very cheap insurance.
