It's because we are Notherners, Matt and therefore correct.

If i was queing for a bacon sandwich and the person in front of me ordered a "bacon cob" i would punch them in the back of the head.

I had never heard cob used in any form of sentence involving food apart from Corn on the cob before today Bacon cob
