been 'testing' maps - seems abit flat at 140mph tbh

got a list of things iv got to go to check boost issues

pressure test the system - any leaks from hoses or intercooler

remove dump valve, as i think it could be split

this is how it ended uo saturday night less than one week on the road

timing 2 teeth out

a nice bolt i found

back to normal again

Bad times mate. Very lucky though. My luck would of been all 16valves bent at 90degrees
on another note I got 284 miles to a tank and cost me 45 to fill. What mpg does that work out to be?

The standard dump valves are a fidly job with the turbo still on the car! if theres a chance that someone put a Bailey's etc on it then put it back to standard, they might have done it incorrectly.

Also take the airbox off and see if you hear anything unusual like a constant leak noise, should just be able to here slight flutter, under load.

Also get a 2.2 airbox setup i found its sorts the 'lag' and responsiveness out.

It's easy to do the standard dump valve even with the turbo in place.

I replaced the one on the VXR on Saturday for a metal Forge item, you only need to cut down a 5mm allen key and have a 5mm allen key socket with plenty of extension bars all of which Warren will have.

True yes. unfortunately i didnt have the required tools, just a cut down allen key.

When i put mine back together the spring wasnt sitting in the correct place. So might be worth a check. Especially seeing that the Vaux tech left the bolt in the timing belt case

It's only a replacement for the standard item but being made of metal rather than rubber it doesn't split and holds boost a lot better, gear changes are a lot smoother.

No point throwing money at a turd tbh

Lower it on the Eibachs and put a RARB on it and it should be ok to drive.

Just like a blanking plate or a full recirc replacement?
Fitted the blanking plate option to mine as I fitted the baileys dump valve, but like you said it seems to hold boost better now and boosts up straight away after a gearchange instead of lagging a bit

It's a direct replacement, take one out, put another one in, it is literally just an upgrade from the standard one for mapped cars.

im not cutting down my tools

il just move the aircon pump instead!

pressure tested the boost system today - all fine, all connections, hoses fine, along with intercooler

fitted some 50/30 eibach springs sits much much better - handles alittle better

you could say its now - a smaller boat

might attempt the to get the dump valve out tomorrow, - how much are these blanking plates? and where from, for when i get a chav valve

whats the spec on yours greg?

dunno where id fit the chav valve with a power pipe, that i have laying around in my parts bin

Not sure on price of the blanking plates but you can get them from forge. If you do blank it off the car will be more Jekyll to drive, it's also cheaper to buy a one way valve to stop it from working. If you buy a dv get a Collins
