whilst on your driving course were you taught about motorway driving styles?

like accelerating into a gap between 2 vehicles to your left?

so that in the case of an emergency you have a free route to take?

That comes under general observation imo, always having somewhere to go in a hazard situation.

Yes. The speed limit is 70mph.

That also doesn't mean that you can sit there at 70 on some moral highground upholding the law when in fact you would be breaking it by obstructing the traffic.

On a motorway?

No reason to not go by 2, would be a total waste of time to go in and back out for no reason.

I love how quickly Doyles threads pick up momentum

No point in me echoing what's already been said.

I think he means alongside other cars, not passing two in one overtake, which is fine.

I personally think everyone should be made to drive something big, heavy and articulated before sharing a motorway with them.

how does a simple thread like this turn into harrassment of doyle?

true though, don't sit in the overtaking lane whatever speed you're going.

i admit i'm guilty of doing it sometimes, but thats purely because the cars behind me are doing considerably less speed than me and aren't catching up

usually i just sit in lane 1 and move out to overtake when there everythings clear, then move back over to lane 1 and continue my journey without obstructing anyone.

What annoys me on motorways is the sheer lack of control of speed, I set my cruise to 70 and people speed up and slow down at a rediculous rate, I do notice it more with cruise control, but I also know that without it I can hold my speed.

Usually I look over my shoulder though at erratic drivers when I overtake them and generally it is usually female, elderly, indian, or a horrible combination of all of them

If I'm doing over 70, I'll sit in lane 2 or 3 if it's clear behind me. As soon as someone appears in the distance behind me, I'll get out of the way.

I used to notice that when I had cruise control. Some times need to remember though, that as you go up/down a gradient, other cars will slow down/speed up where as you'll keep a constant speed still.

The keep left unless overtaking rule is obviously too difficult to understand.

Its not hard to follow the rules, even if doing 150mph, to stay in the left lane if its clear tbh.
