I wouldn't say I've reached the limit on the roads, but I agree that you should learn a car on the roads. The only thing that would put me off using a car for the first time on track is I don't know what the condition of the car is like. Brakes any good, what the tyres are like, if there are any problems that could have been solved if I'd driven it on the road prior to the day

The road is alot more unsmooth than on track.

I also think theres a different driving style involved here, forgetting about the road and on track, your driving style seems to be adopting a very very late brake and sharp turn in, whereas mine is more of a slower in faster out approach, the ring vid in my sig kind of shows it.

neither is better or worse, just different styles that have developed i suppose

This is what goes through my mind everytime I get tempted to put my foot down when I shouldn't.

Brilliant and very tragic read that was, I read his blog as well afterwards when he was in prison. I couldn't cope with the turmoil and that was the best deterent for driving fast on the road.

Not that you can nowdays anyway.

yeah i did used to drive like a nob but never when there was other cars around and my mate got a 182 sport and he gone through a couple of shafts and he hasnt taken it past 100 and drives really careful

its off the mark that gives the shaft so much stick, if driven properly they wont snap

i borrow my mrs 172 to go work sometimes, i ring its neck and drive it hard, my dad was the previous owner to the same car from 6months old, he didnt drive it steady. 8 years on its still on the same shafts

I can take holidays in term time but it's a lot more difficult to get it approved.

I would love to go but I wouldn't be anywhere near as on it, too risky. At least Combe is tyres and a walk home, the ring is another matter.

I thought this before I went, as soon as I was on the track it all went out the window though. Its hard not to go flat out.

If I went flat out it would end in tears.

I would love to go and probably will at some point, but I've promised myself not to come home with a big bill

Don't you mean housecoat?

Trackday is the perfect place to learn the limits of your car, just start slow and keep out the way of others, by the end of the day you'll be laughing! Make sure it's a proper trackday though and not one of the chav action days.
