I do mine when the manual tells me too.

I used to do the Corsa often, but that was because it was old and constantly leaked

yes he is.

I suppose if you like changing your oil so regularly and you like keeping it a nice pretty colour then its not a comlpete waste of time as it keeps you happy.

oh and oil darkens when little tiny bits of carbon and soot are trapped by the oil, its what modern oil is supposed to do rather than older oils where the crap was left on the engine. Oil doesnt loose this property after 3000 miles or whatever.

Good point

Does constently topping up your car with oil count as oil changing?

It does if the engine is worn, as very tiny amounts of anti-freeze and petrol can get into the oil so the higher the mileage to more people should change the oil. I would say if the vauxhalls service interval is 20k miles by the time it reaches 150k it will be pretty knackered. Suppose the first owner and vauxhall won't care though.

ach... if its a run of the mill car (like most) just service the bugger when the log book tells you too. Thats all the next buyer will really care about.

Our two track cars get serviced so frequently as they get a very hard time of it. We use very good oil too, and prob 'could' run them a lot longer... but I dont fancy it. Debris/over heated oil/fuel can all take there toll on the oil.

The bugger with it though is the oil is £50 for 5l. And for servicing both we'd need 13l

Just whenever the service like comes on, its meant to be 15k mile intervals but I think it works out more like 10-12k.

The evo is serviced every 4500 miles. Thats just the engine oil tho (infact its getting done next week again), the diff/gearbox/transfer box gets done once a year along with the plugs.
