The cars could be scattered all over the scene in no particular order and I'd still think the Fiesta was to blame

The blame for hitting the astra will be the fezzas fault, the blame for hitting the fezza will be the pug

Doesn't matter what the car in front braked for, you should be far enough away to stop in a distance to be seen clear

Glad everyone is okay though.

This is what i say. But they all still disagree

at the Give jews a chance. I never saw that.

Yup at stupid for no seat belts, and yup at my mates tits apparantly they did aid her safety

i can look up the caselaw at work to back up your argument if you like, i work in liability and claims within car insurance.
its definately the fiestas fault for not leaving enough braking distance. they may say that the astra stopped for no reason, but what if there was something or someone in the road, the collision would have still happened.peugeots fault for hitting the fiesta for the same reason.

As said, it will be the fiesta's fault, and even if it wasnt, driving it modded like that will draw unwanted attention / blame anyway

Yes, it's nearly always the person behind at fault, BUT:

"Car Accident Fraudulent Claims: Driver Brakes Suddenly
How to avoid paying compensation if a UK driver brakes suddenly with a view to causing a collision

Generally speaking if a car rear ends another it is the car that collides with the rear of the other that is at fault and considered liable in UK law.

However, there is an insurance scam in which drivers brake suddenly without any hazard on a road with a view to causing a collision with a view to making fraudulent claims for personal injury and whiplash.

Quite often the car in front is packed with individuals who all complain of whiplash symptoms.

If you are suspicious as to why the vehicle in front had to brake – notify your motor insurer. Insurance companies keep records of claims and locations and if the same individual has had previous claims in suspicious cirumstances or road accidents of a similar nature seem to be occurring at a high frequency at one location with no good reason you might find that instead of having to pay compensation yourself the driver and passengers could be prosecuted for attempting to make a fraudulent RTA claim."

It doesnt matter if its someone deliberately trying to cause an accident you should be leaving enough space to STOP! there is no excuse!

If someone is deliberately trying to cause an accident, they will brake harder with the intention of stoping on a penny. Even if you are 2 car lengths behind, i doubt you would have time to react. Most accidents you will see the hazard/problem ahead and mentally be prepared to stop suddenly in your subconcious. However, clean road, no hazards BAM.

Stop talking drivel.

yes, I agree with you, but that is a solicitors response to the matter.

You'd have to prove the car in front deliberately caused the accident though.

2 car lengths isn't the recommended distance for following a car at 70 though

Fiesta filled to the brim, driven by people on their way to a festival, probably larking about, listening to loud music plus the car screams 'idiot' and you are pointing the finger of blame at the car they hit? That stretch of the M25 is RENOWNED for people suddenly stopping as they go up over the brow of the hill. (if its the bit I think it is between the M4 and M40).

REAL moral of the story: always travel at a distance you can be sure to stop in. So the distance in my MiTo is a little less than in that fiesta... you have to adjust to what your driving and the condition, ie, double it in the rain

TBH, I wouldn't go as far as slating them for what happened. It was their fault yes, but, we're only human and we make bad judgments and wrong calls. They'll hopefully learn from it and become better drivers for it
