I think thats just about the most polite way I could think of to end the conversation considering I was boiling

It happens maybe once every couple of years but in my experience when your dealing with someone who is clearly just looking for an argument or to abure you, its better to just ask them to leave in a polite manner - If they dont then tell them to fuck off

Im the manager - the owner is out on repairs and is well aware of my customer service skills as he is fitting the very expensive machines i sell all day. We are an established local firm with hundreds of repeat customers, we work for the largest hospital in europe, the council, the most famous university in the world and most landlords in oxford .... my boss trusts me to make a call on dick head customers- neither of us take that kind of shit, we bend over double to help our customers, we dont take slander and abuse though

my first answer to him was

"i think you should leave the shop before I lose my temper sir"

he then called me a liar and denied his original accusation

so he got told to fuck off

Im really not going to defend our company to someone on the internet who doesnt seem to understand that I wasnt talking to a customer- i was talking to a timewaster who had nothing better to do than to slander me then throw accusations at me.

Our customers are very hapoy with us and have been for the 6 years I have been here and the 80 years the company has been.

No go back to your work and getting trampled on by arsewhole customers in case you get the sack - shame on you for letting people talk to you like shit just becaus they are a 'customer' - we provide a service, not a door mat

lmao, how you ever became a manager with that attitude is hilarious. I work for a global company that has high prospects and probably a million times fold client base then your shitty independent company

If you cannot see the error in your ways here i suggest you get some training. If your bosses think the way you spoke to a customer was acceptable then they must be even more of a mong then you are

worst "my companies better than yours" post ever

simple answer is I became a manager because i know the products inside out, i sell shit loads, i run my managers day to day shop doing everything involved in that, he trusts me and likes me, so do our customers, siuppliers, and invoice customers ....... so your opinion doesnt bother me too much

The point you are all missing is - The guy wasnt a customer - he was a nutter - I was reasonable and perfectly polite untill he refused to leave and carried on accusing me of things. He wasnt looking to buy anything, he wanted an argument- god knows why .... he got told where to go

Fair enough, but you could have just ridden it out and the guy would have eventually got bored and left.

We used to get people wanting fake computer games etc, fair enough we had the advantage of just hanging up, but we let them have their say then ended the call. You could have done the same.

What about if there was a genuine new customer in the store that you couldn't see (for all the washing machines say ) and they only heard you saying get the fuck out? Could put a lot of people off.
