Feck it, if you can afford it then why not. It's like cars, why spend £10k when you can get one for £1k. You do it because you can, and because its what you want to do.
Indeed Nathaniel
Thats how I convinced myself before buying some Rays

yes you should get a decent pair to protect your eyes as £1 pairs from poundland ect are basically just coloured plastic.
however, its a bit stupid to think you need to spend £100 on sunglases are they wont be affective.
take these examples
http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/oakley-ice-pick-black-iridium-polarized-mens-sunglasses-p102955
http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/sinner-prime-pc-smoke-silver-mir-p96365
both offer exactly the same level of protection 100% from UVA/UVB/UVC rays.
so basically after you pass the £20 - £30 mark your just paying for the brand, which is fair enough if you likes branded goods, but saying only the ridiculous costing brand name glasses offer protection is just stupid.
How is that a comparison??? Those second ones look shit! My Police ones stayed on my head no matter what too which is a reason why i want the same.
Oh and they have lasted me 5 years of not just summer holidays but here at home too so £100 don't seem that bad I agree with the brand =£ but my police were VERY well made and have taken a lot of stick.
i was simply pointing out the technical specs of those two glasses are the same, other than that aesthetics are a very personal point of view so i didnt bother discussing them

You have got to get out of the dreamworld mate. Fake Ray Bans, driving your dads Jag to pretend you have a decent car, breaking into that girls house and telling her if she didnt act like she was your sister when the Yorkshire boy came round that you would brutally murder her.
Yeah, i saw through all that mate.

I should have pointed out that i'm soooooo fussy about everything it took me about 3 weeks to find a pair that i thought even looked right on my face I didn't even look at the prices at the time, can't be arsed doing that again hence the same make/model

Tbh, even the cheap £1 sunglasses probably offer sufficient protection for a normal user.
After laser eye surgery / having sensitive eyes, it may be neccessary to spend extra, but most people don't even bother and we're not blind.

What I meant is for standard eyes, it will do no damage wearing a £1 or £1000 pair on your face, only difference is the guy with the £1k pair will pose, show them off, talk about them all the time and kiss them goodnight.
But unless you're looking into the sun or have had eye surgery, it shouldn't matter between £1 and £100 for damage of the eye purposes. For brightness, maybe.

You're still incorrect, it's not just brightness either, you've clearly never compared a set of half decent ones (don't have to cost hundreds) with a £1 pair.

£1 pairs and similar cheapy ones are no better than 3D glasses FFS! its just coloured plastic with no protection!
