i got caught with an undeclared engine. police rang insurance and they said i was still insured. it was down as a 1.4 but was a 2.0t. Police then let me on my way. sold the car shortly after.

What's classed as a mod though these days? Would you declare a set of brand specific Alloys; as in, I have a set of Alloys which came with the car with normal tyres on, then I have a set with winter tyres on that I use when we head to the Alps - the wheels are standard Jag ones but not off my model.
Is debadging a mod, is swapping the bumpers for standard but later spec ones a mod

i think its stupid not declaring engine changes.
Nothing wrong not claiming small things like wheels ect.
I had a corsa 1.6 sport at 17, which i bought and insured myself. I never crashed that or anyother car ive had. Im 19 with a clio 172. You've just got to use your head

A mod is a change from the spec it left the factory spec. Obviously the winter wheels/tyres in your case won't be a problem, but any other non-safety change would be. If you put a GSI kit on a 1.2 Merit, it makes it look like a GSI to the untrained, so is more desirable.

Many different companies, even the likes of Flux. I must of quoted nearly every small car, I don't think I ever got a quote less than about £1700

the wheels would be a problem were lee to have an accident as they aren't the ones that come on the car from factory.
it's ridiculous really.

I don't think crashing a car so soon after passing is a learning curve IMO.
Of course it is, you drive like a dick, you crash, you LEARN not to drive like a dick?
True but you already know your going to crash driving like a dick
Don't get me wrong, I do like the odd hell run but never over take in retard places or go above the cars limits.

when you're young you feel invincible and your corsa 1.2 16v is actually an f430.
when you grow up, you realise what a cunt you looked and don't make the same mistake again.

I actually find it annoying that it appears to be socially acceptable to smash your car when your young, "oh well who cares they are supposed to crash at that age"

At what 'size' of mod does it become stupid?

That's the point I'm making really, when does a change become a modification; debadging mine might make it look like a different model potentially - is that a Mod? or interior mods or putting a later spec grill on or colour coding the chrome trim. I might get flamed for this, but If I do anythign to the Jag along those lines, I won't be declaring them

What you're missing out is that this is all in your opinion. Agreed, it might be looked at in more detail but at the end of the day not declaring modifications is exactly that. You can't admit to doing it then slate people who are doing the exact same thing.

I didn't mean 'you' as in yourself. I meant as in people in general.
And the fact that you condoned it suggested you have done it. You've maybe not but then why say that?

Strongly strongly disagree with this!
I'm 19, and have paid for every little thing on all my cars, including buying the cars. And there is a huge difference between driving fast, and driving like a dick!! Yeah some young lads give us a bad name but this is a strong stereotype tbh.

What about my tyres then, they are 3 inches bigger than standard (on same wheels) and are lower profile tyres a mod?
