I think 8 is the best by far, how much was it if you don't mind me asking? The jap imports are always tidy but the worrying thing is I bet 90% get clocked before coming in country , hardly any have the history from japan.

Same here. I've had mines over 2 1/2 years. Been forged and 500bhp for over 1 year and never had any problems.
Only thing with mines is the clutch, driving through town is a joke, it's so jerky. Must look like i can't drive
Getting up to 600bhp won't be cheap!

That's awesome. I'd love an Evo just for a while as I couldn't stomach the running costs.

omg fuel consumption is awful, over one weekend and 160miles on the motorway (with a little and i mean a little play) cost me around 60 quid in fuel, need to top up again tonight so another 40 quid and that will probs last till thursday max

cos the VXR8 is a group 20 and Evo is too but sometimes they charge less for different cars.
Cheers

Its not that bad on the 8 upwards as there classed as UK official imports. Obviously the premiums will differ massively depending on peoples circumstances.
As said fuel consumption is laughable, you'll be VERY lucky if you see over 20mpg taking it easily. Your into single figures having a play.
The running costs can be good but only if its used as a weekend/dry weather car. When things break it WILL be expensive to fix also the car has to be serviced every 4.5k miles. I used mine as a daily so I went through a huge amount of fuel and a few services in the year I had it. I was using the car what it was meant for lol so it cost me a fortune to run but on the plus side the wife used it during the week to her work and back which worked out around 100 miles and she could easily get good fuel consumption out of it, she would fill the tank (which is bloody small) on a Monday and still be left with over a 1/4 on the friday.

no one wants a high powered low mpg sports car nowadays
insurance was £2700 which at 21 isnt to bad i think
fuel is a joke but oh well your only young once, i use it as a every day car but the car is very capable of it
for the miliage and condition £11k isnt to bad its been well looked after

Exactly adam, thats when things start to get VERY expensive and break lol, read many posts on MLR about it.
Running it as an everyday car is possible like you say Rob, I done it no bother in all weathers and it never once let me down.

they just need servicing regualry which isnt a problem takes a while to get used to the car its handles and pulls different to anything i have ever driven
the best thing i bought tho is a car cover my god its saved me so much time from scrapping the windows plus helps look after it a bit better

My Impreza is 400bhp and plenty fast, too fast maybe, for road use.
600bhp is just wasted if you arent going to do anything with it (i.e where are you going to use all 600 of those horses)
Also worth considering the costs.... 8k may get you that figure on paper but it will cost a lot to keep it at 600bhp if you use the 600bhp.
It will not be as nice to drive on the road either.
In short if you really want 600bhp go for it, but I think 500bhp max and/or spending more wisely on brakes and suspension would be a better decision
your car though have fun

... and easier to use, easier to run
See a lot of 600bhp TimeAttack EVO's wrecking gearboxes, transferboxes, diffs etc.
(and they arent shite standard boxes either :S )

no car will be that reliable if its abused - if thats what you mean.
If you look after it - lots of fresh fluids regulary, good plugs, filters, good map etc it should take heavy use.
When we've used the Skylines/Imprezas on the road we change oil at about 2.5/3k miles, about £60 just for oil.
If you want it to be reliable though the best bet it to just leave it alone (mod wise). The more you add, the more it may go wrong
The saying 'if it aint broke, dont fix it' has some meaning here
