a bit late in the conversation but i agree with others, try a different one!

go to a different dealer and get in the car, i have three Vauxhall Dealers within 20mins of my front door and they are all smaller town dealerships, i could spend a day fighting them off each other!

as for price Wisebuyers put the retail at higher than the one you found (i estimated 25k miles) ok so it isn't much your saving but on "market value" it is a saving.....

and like others are saying look around at something else. you may say you don't want to try anything else but if you jump in a Ford or Mazda or something completely different but in direct competition in terms of price and performance then you can see what it is your £9k is getting you!

Its like saying Nicks corsa will keep up with a veyron because its got roughly the same power to weight? (actually the corsa might have a better one if i can count at 11.30 on a monday night after a days graft )

U can't really compare a 4wd hyper car to a fwd 500 bhp corsa though can u? Where as u can with corsa B and a corsa D

What is the safest way of buying a car privately without taking cash notes?

There is no 'safe' way, every possible method of transfering money will require an element of trust. I have always bought private and spent up to £12k without any problems as you get more car for your money, you just have to be a good judge of character.

Yes the way the money is transferred is what i meant.

So is a bankers draft just he same as cash?could take the car away straight away?

Yep, the money comes out your account as you draw the bankers draft. If I was selling a car i'd still be sceptical to take one. I'd like to see the money in my account before I handed over the keys.

pretty quick up to 60 though.

i'd get an astra vxr instead, worth the xtra insurance/running costs.

What limit are you talking about??70??

If so then you never really had a play with it to over double the limit if it seemed to go backwards from 60.

double the limit = 140, not 70. it disappeared in my rear view mirror. thought it'd be quicker.

If you hand over a bankers draft the person can phone the issueing bank and confirm if its genuine or not, giving peace of mind.

Don't limit yourself to just Vauxhalls, like Jacko said try a 182.

My 106 GTi was the most reliable car I have had.

Think you're better off chopping and changing cars tbh as it sounds like it would be hard for you to pick one to stick with for a long period of time. just make sure you get good deals etc as youre jumping about.

A Corsa VXR is much more fun than a Clio 182
