I'll have a spy and see how clean it really is. I'm expecting to be able to eat my dinner off of it!

To be 'as new'

I see your point but when a car is resprayed they are often left with Orange peel (depending on the job) where they will simply cut it back with a harsh compound leaving hollagrams/buffer trails and possibly still orange peel. I bet Tom can relate to time being busy and not having the time to polish car to the same standard as a detailer its simply uneconomical.

When I had an insurance job done on the Clio I had to wet sand the front bumper and wing to get the finish the same as the rest of the car. The paint was fine its just the finishing that was lack lustre.

I''m just pointing out a respray doesnt gurantee an imperfection free car as I dont see many bodyshops who wet sand pannels etc. Tom is a very good painter and still enlists the services of Rich who can clearly refine a car.

It boils down to how anal you are about detail/ paint clarity etc etc

Here goes the edited pictures bandwagon again

I think the contrast looks spot on. The dark bits do look dark and shiney because they are dark and shiney

I might actually be wrong on the price. Because its a small car they might have recieve discount - I have no idea.

I'm just going by the prices on the service options page.

How long did it take out of interest? I would expect to pay a high end "detailer" about £200 a day excluding materials, so estimating £200 for materials (generous IMO), I would have hoped they spent 4 days on it?

Not knocking the end result, just seems like a lot of money.

Just seen the website says 3-5 day booking so my estimate was about right, seems less expensive if they genuinely spend 4/5 days on it.

I didn't know that, but it seems you're right enough

And for any one who thinks the pictures were photoshopped, here are a few taken by the owner at home.

didnt go round but boyner seems happy enough with it

The booking was originally for his Q7 but it was sold so he used it for the MkII instead.

Fair play - he seems happy with the results, and if you can afford it why not.

I would only consider it for a very special car, or for a special reason I have pently of spare time (sometimes) so I'd prefer to spend the time on it myself, 'washing it' rather than paying hundreds to get it 'detailed'

Fan Boys eh!

tbh that does look mint and worth 500 quid. a grand? maybe not, to me anyway.

but for the price you can't moan. it looks brand new and probably has added 500 quid to the selling price.
