i get about about 45miles from my corsa xe driving normal ! it shocking how much it uses

Something must be wrong with your car if you really are just driving normally.

My 2.8 V6 4WD Passat with 2 full tanks (heavy fucker) does about 45 miles which is under 20mpg.

Your xe should be doing more than that...
