Meet the guy, show him the car, agree the deal, drive him to the bank, ask to see the cash, take it out of his hands and pass it to the cashier.

I always take proper cash but never generally handle it.

I wired a guy i'd never met £1k to secure the RS while sitting in the middle of the North Sea.

Then flew to Humberside from Aberdeen to meet him & pay off 20k of finance over the phone & then took him the the bank, handed him the rest of the cash & drove back up the road

I would ask for it to be paid in cash, directly into your bank, so if any notes are fake its the banks problem for accepting them.

The lass that bought my yellow Ibiza paid £1900, majority in Scottish notes

I see this as dodgy If you had nothing to hide, wouldnt you just keep it all in a bank? I know i would!

When I sold TT, a couple come and she had cash in her handbag!

Suppose it's a matter of trust, I checked the money in a service station car park

Even more dodgy!

Guy who bought my 182 lived down the road from my work, looked round it, agreed a price, he said back in 2 mins, wandered down home and came back up with just over 3k cash. I shoved it in my tool box, did a few more hours work, drove to Peterbrough from Leeds and bought another car

Best thing is, his mum is a nurse and is dad is a copper so you would think they would of taught him a degree of common sense in his up-bringing

I must not be the dodgy looking type as both times i have bought evos 17k and 11k i paid cash and they never even counted it

Although when i sell i count and check the notes with a pen. Quite a few times i have sold and people have collected at night so no chance of paying straight into the bank.

Can you imagine the shit you would be in if you sold your motor and got shafted with £10k of fake notes!

Option1
Involve the police and risk losing to lot

Option2
Try and shift them and hope you dont get caught

Thoughts?

That wouldn't really work Gareth? If you knew the notes were fake, you'd either have to check them (which you'd do at the time?) or find out when you hand it over in the bank, to which they would take it and it would all kick off
