i had a race with a 335i a couple of years back ... was a woman driving that too .. she wasnt scared to do 155

im with chris on the not that quick thing .. yes 5 second to 60 is pretty good but the cars like the vx are more about being agile rather than allout speed. alltho a powerfull one is quite somthing. as they do weigh so little in comparison to alot of cars.

5 seconds to 60 is not pretty good it is rapid

There is some clear willy waving going on, if you drive around your city centre you will be quicker than 95%+ of cars in a car that quick.

I'd say a remapped VAG was very quick having driven a number of them and none of them would come close to 5 seconds 0-60.

i agree hammer. 5 seconds to 60 is plenty.

aston v8 vantage only does 0-60 in 4.9.

i've only ever done more than that once and i wouldn't like to and probably will never have the chance to do it on the public highway ever again.

i prefer acceleration to top speed.

thats the thing tho past 60 there not 'that' fast .. there by no means slow but not fast either i would dare say a mapped tdi golf would beat one in most real world circumstances.

Real world circumstances and midrange acceleration being key here.

Although you would not buy one for that. As been mentioned country road blasts/track use.

TBH the turbo would give you the best of both worlds though.

why not get a MX5? you'll get more car for your money with a bit more convenience yet still have the fun factor, getting a supercharged engine will give the same power output....just my few (bias) pennies worth

The only comparison between an MX5 and a VX is the fat they have a soft top. They are in different leagues.

not really, they are a bit off the pace above 60 as its a horsepower race then and it only has 150 bhp. once the weight is moving the more horsepower the better.

this is a vid of a standard 2.2 to 110mph

DOOOO IIIIIITTTTTTTT!!!!!

And everyone going on about top speed/0-60 etc.

5.5 is more than quick enough, and imo what appeals about the VX220 isn't top speed, but the fact that it corners like its on rails.

Exactly. This is what i was getting at. I want something that will hapily do the daily commute and achieve reasonable mpg and also be able to have fun down country lanes on my day off.
