Honestly? I think most people who know what they are doing would NEVER EVER cut coils off a spring.. they are there for a reason you know....

It's just a coil of metal, a cut spring is just a longer spring with different specifications.
The issue is that the cut spring is generally unsuitable for the application that the longer spring came from. Most notably because it doesn't expand to the same length when it's not loaded, but also because the seat profile and compression characteristics are different.
So yeah, no different to fitting springs of any other car that are also unsuitable. And when it drives badly at least you know why.
