I used a 4 and yes its better, but doesnt warrant a fresh 18 month contract just to get a better screen , camera and a bit faster, my contract expired in dec and since then ive been on simplicity, when the new phone comes out ill purchase outright and just get a fresh sim.

I see what John is saying, like on your desktop, when you up the res you can fit a lot more on the screen. Wouldn't like to see more res on the iPhone screen though as the text is already tiny when zoomed out and works fine as it is.
Infact I don't know what I'd like to see as a faster chip and better camera wouldn't tempt me to change and most of the iOS5 features will be available on the 4 anyway. Maybe if it was half the tickness or had a completely new design to set it apart from the 4, which is unlikely this time round.

Don't agree with a higher res. Fair enough you can fit more on, but you won't be able to read anything.
Switchable res would be good, that way everyone is happy and my mum could run it in 640x480 cos she's blind!

Interesting mock up:
Talks of a slightly longer and wider phone make sense to me - if they can make it 0.4" longer and 0.3" wider then they could fit in a 4" screen, and then use edge-to-edge technology to make it 4.3".
It would then be marketed a having a 50% bigger screen than the 4 and with the A5 chip, 50% faster.
Although dpi would drop to about 270 from 300 and I can't see them changing the resolution again due to all the existing apps. Plus the prototype iPhone 4's they sent out to developers in advance with the A5 chips didn't have any increased resolution.
Making it longer and wider also allows them to make it thinner whilst maintaining battery capacity.

I know its a fake but the article does bring up some interesting points about why it could be close to the new one. Interesting, not sure I'm keen on the rounded glass as i like the crisp edges of the. 4!
