night fishing is all the fun of camping. Beer, weed, campfire, camping food etc, but you have the added bonus that a bite alarm might scream into action and you could get a fish.
you don't sit by the waters edge holding a rod

Fishing is boring, thats why I like it! Rest of my life is pretty hectic so a long weekend of camping and doing pretty much nothing with no distractions is good!
I dont make a habit of killing things by the way, rats are cheeky though, had them in my bivvy before now. Not cool when they carry weils disease and seem to piss and shit with every step. Just to protect me and the dogs, only trap within 10 foot of my bivvy and when you get one, maybe two you dont get anymore!

I went fishing with some friends recently for the first time. I didnt actually do much fishing at all, but really enjoyed it. As above, its quite serene, sitting by a peaceful lake side, just taking the fresh air in.

Fishing is the most participated sport in the uk. Football is the most watched.
i work in a tackle shop and this past year the amount of people what have started it up is unreal, 75% of senior/ big school's around me have now put fishing as part of the current ciriculum, where a nvq can be obtained, schools invest £100 into pupils to buy the 'own gear', which has to be spent with us. ( they do monthly check ups)
I wish they had that when i was at school. In the school holidays matches happen weekly where prizes are up for grabs, i certainly think its a brilliant idea, investing in the most popular sport but the least funded. (even lacrosse gets more funding from the government).
It keeps kids of the street, away from vandalising and stealing, and also gives them something whats theres and they have to look after. Also there are certain groups what take disabled kids and adults out, Alot of these have backing from brands such as daiwa shimano preston innovations.
Football and rugby certainly don't do as much for the community with all there funding. If it wasnt for fishing and the E.A all the rivers would be overgrown and polluted, ponds and nature reserves would be less cared for.
rant over

I'm big into my night fishing sessions. Got a couple of top mates who do it too so it's great to get away from all the hassle of work.

I lost a spoon landing net, a big rubber pike landing net, a keep net, a pair of wellies and half a sack of groundbait a few weeks ago :@

haha thanks for bumping this thread.
My current kill count since i first posted is 6 mice to traps and one next to a trap that doesnt seem to have got killed by it but maybe by the deadly rat paste i put down.
Im going to check the shed now to see if i have any more kills as i havent checked it for a week or so.

Got one! Seems they dont really like cheese and prefer snickers chocolate more!
Reloaded both traps with chocolate.
Seem to have loads of poo around the shed but only 1 mice in the trap..... more traps needed???

I actually got mine on cheese. I've used some hard boilies now though which I found lying in the bottom of my bag.
