steve, my brakes do this, at low speeds sometimes i press brake lightly and the ABS goes all weird, like shuddering and no pedal feel while that happens, its very odd.

yeah same here
when one of my sensors went the abs was self disabled for a while and am sure the braking felt stronger and more predictable, hence why i think i want to switch it off most of the time lol

The pedal feel is probably better without it.
That doesn't necessarily equate to better brakes.
Also depends if you're happy regulating the brakes yourself if you need to not lock a wheel if you slam on. There are benefits to having it, ie. it works faster than you legs do in emergency situations.

yeah iv read people who swear that abs being on is better without eg it does a lot of work that no matter how skilled you are is impossible to replicate.
most of those situations would probably occur on the road, regulating on track i think id be fine with

You don't need the light if abs is removed...so you can remove the light.

Have you ever looked into if you have some kind of pedal sensor, am told this is why mine is odd sometimes after fitting new calipers.
Your abs should work still imo, don't the abs sensors just read wheel speed from the rotors

Either wire the light to the air bag light/ oil pressure light! Mot testers dont look that close tbh! id be suprised if the even noticed the abs light not comin on! Option 2 is rip ur abs pump and everything to do with the abs inc the light cos if its not there the tester cant fail it!

I would be removing the pump as well, the only issue is that you can't find the fittings and they're clearly available because Ste found mine.

do this and bin the lot.
Did a similar thing with one of the GSi's years ago, except I jumped it to the oil pressure light.

also posted in my projects thread but heres the result
So i finished my traction control/abs switch and i made a video
The Focus TC i used is a bit different to the OEM ones in the Puma, its slightly taller so a bit of cutting and filing of the surround was needed but i think it looks ok, as close to OEM look as im going to get really
Heres where is splices into the abs loom, the tape is there just for extra protection but it runs inside the oem loom sheath, and the offshoot is shrink wrapped from there
in the car
and the vid showing it working
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5FkbGurd7Y
i need to get a pic of it when it gets dark because iv wired it so it glows like the rest when the lights are switched on
thanks adio for finding the switch
