so why continue it
You stated information presented on the BBC
I stated facts based on peoples profession and also Adam stated his experience
Just admit it was not an argument or having a go merely correctly a statement you posted on the web which turned out to be inaccurate

Only a few weeks back I was travelling at over 70 in the overtaking lane, saw a police car coming at around 100, i moved into a gap, he went past and gave me a flash of his hazards, I then moved out and continued progress at the same rate as before recieving a disgusted look from everyone I went past afterwards
In other news this wont happen any time soon as greenpeace/prius owners/tony blair/animal rights activists/bin laden will get involved and we won't hear any more about this until 2013 when the argument comes up again.
Long overdue and I don't understand why it would cause more deaths etc as people that want to travel at 70 still would be able to and the people that would travel at 80 do now anyway

TBH the amount of clueless turds that pull into the outside lane without looking or have underpowered cars to get up to speed...the 80mph idea is prob a bad one, BUT I will still go at 80mph+ like everyone else.

The main reason this came up is because the 70mph national speed limit is something like 50 or 60 years old - off the top of my head, I'd hazard a guess that a modern car could stop/ slow down in about half the distance of something from the 50s or 60s.
The only reason I can see it not happening is due to the opposition from police, they'd surely suffer from not being able to dish out as many
And just by the by, I find that Road Wars, Traffic Cops and the likes are terrible for their facts - can always remember that a guy found a massive bag of weed in a car and a set of scales. What he proceeded to say was that the person must be involved in class As since 'you don't use scales to weigh cannabis'. Just shows how much they actually know, I always take what they say with a massive pinch of salt
