I tend to sit next to it for 8 hours to make sure it doesn't catch fire TBH, that way I feel that I'm using it in the most effective way.

don't be a cunt put it on in house, sit around, watch footy whatever, then it's done in 3-6 hours depending how you like your food.

Chicken you need alot of liquid in to keep it tender!
we leave ours on all day, its no different to leaving a light on or a fridge, its just a heat element.

i guess it's just a human way of thinking. leave the fridge on when you go away on holiday but turn off every plug socket just incase it catches fire

I cooked some aberdeen angus stew in mine all day last monday and it wasn't cooked at all, complete waste.
Chicken curry was a success though

Was on the low setting for at least 8 hours, think it was closer to 10 in the end actually, no idea what went wrong.
Had loads of liquid in it. I think it might be something to do with me sticking it all in a pan to start with the Sunday night then it sitting overnight? Only thing that was different to every other time I've used it.

Yeah. I read today that you need to part cook meat off first. I was going to get one for easy meals etc but just as much work imo.

Nup, from a coo in a farm in Gartmore (via being butchered) straight to my plate.

This sounds like it takes a degree of planning. Steak cooked for one minute each side is much easier and quicker.

Are slow cookers the new craze?
Old-dears been using one for the last 15 years or so and usually cooks most things in it (useful for soups), although if it's a joint she usually get's it started in the oven (or boils it a little if it's a gammon) before throwing it in the slow cooker.
