a limp handshake is embarrassing but so is a handshake when you can tell someone is deliberately squeezing harder

If its not firm, you're as well not bothering.

Socially, a limp shake would suggest they are uneasy and/or unsure of themselves.

Never really come across someone with a limp shake in business, tends to go the other way and their attempt at a bonecrusher tells you they're out with something to proove and its going to be an interesting meeting.

Has to be firm and manly.

Can't stand limp handshakes, even worse when they've got damp hands too. One guy at work always has this and it makes me nauseous.

Most awkward thing is going to shake hands with someone and they offer you their fist in some negro-respect-style thing. Especially when the person is white.
