course it can - I speak from experience

No matter who is at fault there is cost in getting it sorted - you are risk hence why it goes up

because they can.

if you notify them of any accidents, they will deem you more at risk and so your premium will go up.

it's not bollocks, it's the truth. phone your insurance company and query it, see what they say.

Update

she nows wants me to book car in, let him fix it all, then get the bill sent to her.

i spose this is the fairest way, but means i'll have to go without a car for a day, got to drop car off, get home etc

just pissed off with the hassle now, would prefer it never happened

she will need to pay before the work is done
when this happens i demand payment for the job before the car comes in as anything could happen and the cost would have to be passed onto the customer.

usually people pay after work is done as we have the car and dont release without payment etc, but obviously the person paying doesnt own the car so i hope this makes sense

Exactly, tell her to give you £300 quid today or you'll be going to insurance.

What do you need an invoice for?

It doesn't matter if you spend that £300 quid on fishing gear, it's a fair price and it's up to her to either pay up or pay for the next 3 years via insurance.

I hope you're not going to do that before she pays

I wouldnt let the insurance know if you want to keep the car as they'll just write it off. I would probably leave it as it is or do a quick fix to it yourself (iirc this is just a cheap runabout £500 car?) and then keep hassleing the woman until she finally pays you a few hundred quid. If it is a small town like you say then i cant see her just ignoring you.
