But yes, I think most people would agree that spec-wise you could do better else where. But then again you purchase a Mac because you either need to or because of the Apple 'Package' (as said, the whole design of the Mac, customer service, OS etc etc). To some people that's worth the extra, to others it's not. Simples.

I think it's got a 1GHz single CPU, 80GB HDD, can't remember what RAM it's got probably 512Mb or 1GB - haven't fired it up in a while - oh and I installed Leopard on it too.
I was considering running it as an FTP server, that or a spare box with an XP COA on it (using XP or Linux), haven't quite decided yet.
Can you run XP on the PPC?
At some point I wouldn't mind getting a G5 setup so i use my old 001 Protools rig again; shame decent spec'd systems are rare as hens teeth or people ask top dollar for them

You can using VirtualBox or something like that, but I don't think you could install it natively like you can OS X.
Would it work out cheaper for you to buy the bits separately or say buy a couple of dead ones and use the good bits to make a working one?

You can run Flash on Ubuntu, there are lots of alternatives to DW but Photoshop is always going to be a bit of a problem. You could give running it through WINE a go?

I think it's some kind of Windows emulation layer, so it works without Windows being installed on the machine which is a but of a Brucey.

Plenty of people can afford Apple gear, it's usually the case of whether or not they believe it's worth it. I certainly don't believe it is as the hardware isn't worth anywhere near what Apple are asking for it but that's my personal opinion.
Gary - Have a look at the AppDB on WineHQ website. IIRC CS5 works ok but there are issues with older versions.
