M3 is random.

If I drive it in Economy auto I can get around 23-25 around town. Regular auto is like 20-21mpg and SMG is like 18mpg

Stick it on an Mway and shell do 32mpg @70the whole time.

Jeep does 15-18round town and max I've ever got out of it was 22lol

Not sure what I get in my 1.6 monster, I just put fuel in when I need it and wait for the light to come on again.

I find all the large engined petrols i've had (330 auto/350z etc) got better mpg on motorways/carriageways than my fiesta is getting. But the fez does much better around town.

edit: fez could do with a 6th gear

When i swapped my petrol x16xe for my GtTdi130 I thought the power delivery is awesome with the high torque figure. Yes you lose the sporty style driving you get with a petrol but the power they put out is addictive. After a remap it will be a whole new car. Overall I love changing at 3000rpm and still pull away from jap crap screaming to 6000rpm

That's Fords for you. My 1.4 16v Fiesta is shocking on fuel for what it is - 40mpg continuously. Tax is expensive too compared to modern petrol Audi's etc.

Gear box is half decent on it though. 70mpg it's at about 3000rpm rather than 3500rpm in the Corsa, so 5th is like 6th.

Still shocking from such a small car with small engine.

MPG is just all about how you drive it, gear box, weight of the car, a number of things really. Your 1.25 Fiesta is supposed to be the pick of the bunch, as the 1.4 16v is not much more bhp but has less fuel economy. I find my Fiesta better to drive than my Punto, that had no torque what so ever, and whilst the Fiesta isn't huge on torque, it is better.

40mpg is good for a small petrol engine car in heavy shell.

This. If you are getting a consistent 40mpg from a 1.4 16v then there's really nothing to complain about.

Got 41mpg in my CTR FN2 on a 50mile motorway trip.

Last 14miles were a 50mph average speed check so I tucked in behind a linda barker lorry and folded my mirrors in

Do people seriously worry about £10 difference in tax? I'm quite happy I've just basically halved my tax costs with the M3 compared to MPS but it really doesn't change whether I'd buy a car or not

No, I couldn't really give a f... !

But I think it can demonstrate the difference in technology and engines that means small isn't necessarily better.

Bring back petrol engines and 20mpg please!

It was just such a bad body kit its the one that stuck in my mind the most, Im normally a slow mpg driver but sometimes the temptation over rules everything
