No mention of the Escort R500.
whats that then ?
I have an old book regarding tuning of the Mk1 and Mk2 Escort, and within it I do believe it shows a picture of an Escort R500. It never made production as IIRC they went on to make either the Sierra Cosworth or similar.
will dig the book out when i get a chance.

the MK2 finished production in 1980, and the Seirra Cosworth went into production in 1986, and the 500 in 1987, only called the 500 because of homolagation reasons for Group A (iirc) Toruing Cars
even the earliest incarnation of the Cosworth YB was the YAA and that was only 1984

Are you sure it doesn't say about the RS1700T?

As i said, i will dig it out and have a look.
The book was published in around 1984.
All that I can remember was that it had a picture of a lush Escort prototype, then saying unfortunately it would not be made as they had plans for something else, like the RS500 or Cosworth/whatver.
Not arguing, just going off what I have read

got to be the Mk3, and the RS1700T, which was BDT powered, and went in favour of the RS200

You guys may be right!
Just googled the RS1700T and the photo looks very similar to what I remember in the book.

Fuuuuck! I had a toy one of those as a kid... major nostalgic trip looking at that.
I think I smashed it flat with my dads hammer and burried it in the back garden
I like the look of the SAAB 900CD Coupe Concept, Fiat X1/0 sports car & Peugeot Oxia
