Owned 2 modified cars, been driving 5 years, only been pulled once but that was my own fault.

I once got stopped by a police van, i say stopped but actually i was flying up the central motorway from the city centre, saw the flashing lights and assumed they just must be for me.

I slowed down to 50mph so he could catch up.

He was absolutely raging, said he couldn't keep up with me to which i replied, "i'm not suprised mate, it's got a two litre engine in, here's my adrian flux insurance policy" he let me go on way way.

TBH i've obly been stopped a handful of times in the 8yrs i've been on the road and every one of them has been my fault so it really doesn't bother me.

i remember the time i got pulled (on the same road as this thread was about) and they claimed it was a spot check.... checked my reg, the car, i was insured and all of that... as he went to pass me my licence back he deliberately dropped it on the floor as i put my hand out.... utter dick

yes the time i got pulled for going through the busses only and got three points the copper was very fair and understanding, really canny even though he'd just cost me some money

Only thing he said was your exhaust is illegal! Like wtf! Wankers to the highest degree! Then they reversed of I noticed their reverse lights were flickering on and off should of flashed them to say they need to rip up their mot disk like they have done to everyone round my way who have dodgy cars!

MOT disk?!

Also reverse lights aren't a legal requirement iirc.

it may not be, but if it's there it has to work properly.

also, i'm not quite sure why everyone is jumping on jed's back here. probably because it's the cool thing to do.

you'd be pissed off aswell if they pulled you for no real reason, after tailgaiting you to bait you into speeding off.

i see plenty of modified cars that are maintained better than skoda taxi's or old people carriers with mirrors hanging off and exhausts with holes in.

bear in mind ireland are slightly different and they display mot on their tax disc or something , so presumably this is what the MOT disk comment refers to

Yeah, I think it's called an NCT too instead of an MOT.

I used to get pulled all the time for "no reason"when I was younger and actually owned a corsa, but looking back now I was doing something wrong each time

Reverse lights might not be a requirement, I'm not sure if that's changed or not, but anything that's there needs to be tested and fully functional. Flickering reverse lights would be a fail

i honestly wouldnt be pissed off, sounds like they were fairly reasonable, and it wasted what 5 mins of his time? i think if you get angry over that then you must have some sort of anger issue

He stops me numerous times asking for insurance docs and license. I'd say once a month yet he already knows the score!

Couldn't agree more Alex

Dan the only reason you haven't been 'stopped' is because you'd already parked up

Never been stopped either and when i do drive past police cars or if they are behind me i dont drive any different than what i normally do.

Saying that when i do get the odd prick that sits close up the back i slam the brakes on instead of putting my foot down.
