They are worse than most in the winter.
They're shite in general anyway. Fuck that tyre! Great grip but mishape

Also my Traction control was suddenly butting in noticebly and killing power like it used to do in the cooper s whoich has never happened before in the clio. I found on the goodyears you couldnt even put the power down under moderate acceleration without it sopinning the wheels up.... I have never had that happen with the continentals
It wasnt that it was over or under stearing dramatically - Its more like it just aquaplanes really easy.
My advice is to stick to the continentals, or take it easy -
I know nothing about how to improve grip in the wet, or the reason the clio can be a handfull- but I find that the car handles so flat and balanced that it sometimes doesnt seem to be conected in the wet, it almost feels like a bit of body roll would help put weight on the tyres and make it grip more - that could be absolute garbage but thats how it feels to me, I cant really describe it any other way. Essentially it feels like there is no give in the car and it just skates over the surface if you push too hard on certain tyres
Anyhow - its much better with the continentals....and I do mean MUCH better. As I say - I would not go through the winter on anything else. I hadnt really noticed any problems in the wet in 5 years of having a clio until I changed the tyres for cheaper ones in september last year

Bang on, it doesn't under steer just slides.
I'll get some Rainsports maybe I could have got 4 Continental SC3 for 200 but missed out as they got snapped up.

you sure it's not tyre related? my puma used to slide rather than understeer and that was because i had shit tyres on it with hardly any tread in the wet.

I dont remember them being shit in winter, but i thought they were brilliant in summer. Miles better than the avon zz3 that i replaced them with.

I can deffo recommend Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas in the wet. They are awesome! Had them on the VXR and now on front of Audi and the difference is huge from the Pirelli P Zero's fitted as std on the Audi.

Ben J knows his shit, Ultrac Sessantas are an excellent tyre. Heard nothing but good things about the Rainsports too though and possibly a bit easier to find.

As were my toyo t1r.
I think its just the driver not knowing the conditions as well as he should.
A refresher driving course may be beneficial?

My dad has Rainsports all round on his E Class Merc. He loves them. But he's past it now and drives like a fanny anyway.

Epic tyres have them all round on the civic no complaints.
Might be something to do with independent rear suspension setups as the civic is a bit fiesty in the wet too. Remember them saying the 5th gear test they did on the ep3 years ago that wet weather traction and grip was its weak point.
VTS was ok in the wet. On worn TR1's in the wet at bedford I span it on the tight right left because when it let go it really did even the diff wasnt catching it. And it did the same when it comited suicide at paddock hill in the ice.
Was epic in the wet on the A048's at oulton though never felt twitchy at all once up to temp. Even Jr was impressed

Ive ran Nankangs on many occassions and have been fine in the wet.
Being able to drive properly in the conditions is half the battle.
