Ash spent a good bit of cash buying his one, and iirc it wasn't long rebuilt. Then it needed rebuilt again He's used a lot of pennies on a good one so I'd hate to see the bills on a bad one

Even the newest ones are 12 years old now and realistically, you'll be looking at a 20 year old car.
Even a good one is likely to have issues.

That was down to poor maintenance by a previous owner firstly, second was a rare housing fault. So far (touchwood) she's been perfect. Seems to be better this year as I've used her a lot more than normal. They don't like being sat about then raped on a weekend then left for another 3 months I find.
I've been through mountains in Austria and Italy, on the Ring a few times and Oulton park twice, not to mention a few 130mph cruises to work over here, she hasn't missed a beat.
I can't ever imagine someone swapping a decent one for a Corsa though, so take someone who knows rotaries to look at any you fancy as there's a good chance of finding a shitter. There are lots of telltale signs to look for regarding engine troubles - but basically the best advice is to stay away from any extensively self-modified examples. Cutting corners with these cars will cause you serious problems.
By the way, you'll need shares in Shell or BP to run one. The tax and the oil they use are the only cheap aspects of running an RX7.
Oh, and RX8s, whilst nice, don't come close to the 7s for grin factor.
Here's some more pic whoring:

Honestly, it's probably not a good idea to use it for lots of short trips, and the difference in fuel costs to your Corsa could make you very unhappy. You can only safely use the 99ron fuels or risk blowing the tips out.
Lack of mods is good, but there are some that should be done, such as metal air separator tank and full metal radiator as the OEM ones tend to pop.
You could swap the Corsa then sell the Rex for a few grand and get something less highly strung.
Have you had any insurance quotes yet?

This is my fd what i had for 4 1/2 years, the engine give way with in a month of owning it. So rebuilt the engine by a specialist and its still running to this day. No engine troubles only wear and tear on part so replace new and branded, buy cheap buy twice with these cars.
Looks a good deal, even if the engine is on its way out you can pick one up cheap enough off the rx7 forums.
