While out and about in the works van found a 9-3tid 120bhp 6speed for sale. Few marks but nothing major. Fsh, full mot. It's black which puts me off. But it's up for 1900 quid. Its quite basic spec though.

I would have 1 of those 9-5s with the Vectra VXR engine in them. Proper sleeper. Not as in your face as the Vectra.

I don't think I'd be able to get a loan off my olds no they don't have muh cash as they're retired. If I can sell the c I will be sorted.

i get the impression you dont like debt? credit card to buy it or large overdraft then sell the c and pay it back? if its dirt cheap and ticks the boxes for you personaly
obviously if the spec and colour is an issue to you then its a no go

I don't have an over draft mate and my credit card is clear and emergency use only which this isn't plus interest on it would be shocking.

ring them if its clear and ask for an interest free jobby? money would only be on it for a month or so if you sold the c and broke/sold the vec

I have only what money I have in my bank John. It's not really a problem to discuss that.

The Saab must look really bland in that respect, the Vectra is bad enough, and is only 'In your face' if it's bollocks Red or Arden Blue.

I'm not after an in your face car. I'm after a diesel saloon car to tow my corsa. For the daily driving I do it doesn't need to be mental. It's less than 20 miles a day I do on average. Just work and back.

A Vectra C would get my vote - driven a couple of the CDTi's and preferred them over the Equivalent Mondeos (had a few of them on hire also)
Last Saab I went in was in 2005/6, a 9-3 1.8t, wasn't bad.
The Volvo S60 mentioned a few posts back is also a good shout, they are quite nice, and of a Luxo-barge style

Personally if it's a choice between a 9-3 and a vectra with the same engine I'd pick the vectra. Build quality isn't any better, pretty much drive the same, I think the Saab interior is nasty. Plus if the vectra is cheaper it's a no brainer for me.
