just wondering if you had bought a second battery for yours. I picked mine up on tuesday and think i'm definitely going to need a spare

Nope. Generally I've found the battery life to be much better than what the reviews have said. 
I have the IS Mode to "2 Shooting only" which seems to have an effect. Also I never use the digital level unless I absolutely have to.
I also shoot in JPG only most of the time.
Only thing I've bought is screen protector as the plastic on the screen is soft as fuck. Picked up light scratches within a day.
Great little camera.

It's ok until you can't figure out why the water flow rate isn't calculating correctly after you followed the tutorial provided by the software developer Except fortunately I fixed it the other week like a boss

righto, i think it should be good for afew hundred shots. i'm just used to my D7000 battery that lasts forever i just don't want to be caught out, not if a replacement battery is like £6 
i'm liking it too, i'm yet to use it properly just messing about the house in low light so i haven't really seen what it can do in good light yet.
The new firmware is out today, if you didn't know already
