Bloody hell Pip! Is that the original body or have you restored the car using a Re-re Sand Scorcher body?

Fuel does go shit and useless with age. Get yourself some decent 25% nitro.

Or a helicopter fuel that's as close to that as you can get.

Heli fuel is the cleanest and smoothest running and the most reliable.

I have a NIB M.B. body in it's brown crappy box that i've had from 1988 that I got for restoring my Sand Scorcher.

Never happy with the changes they made though, so it'll end up being a red and yellow modern S.S. basher/runner body eventually

Cannot beat the old school stuff.

Seen the bloody price of the Bruisr Re-re?

Took me a while to find a body for mine a few years ago but with the recent releases they are back in abundance now.

The re-re stuff is stupidly expensive, playing on peoples desire to own what they never could as a kid.

Ah ha, you beat me to it.

Was just about to suggest a plug when I saw your first post 3CM.

Yours may have been the original plug.

You are supposed to bin it as soon as you've completed the run-in procedure as they get coated with little bits of burnt engine and burnt oil.

Some people don't bother and they leave the factory plug in till the car basically breaks down.

I left mine in for a little longer than I was supposed to as it was still running okay.

But once I swapped it out and started using a less oiled fuel mix, the throttle response got even crisper and she became a little less smokey and even more mental to drive.

i.e. unpredictable and fairly unprovoked wheelies at the critical point that the rear tires reach operating temp.

They're great fun aren't they, but so bloody anti-social and you need a huge space to enjoy them.

I don't care too much about annoying the neighbours None of them ever complain (except that one time), they all make noise. In fact its been less trouble making than i expected, more people seem interested in it than annoyed by it.

I take it up the local dog walking place/field usually.

I just reset all my carb settings to the factory default settings and trying to tune it myself now, rather than adjusting what the last guy did, Still seems to bog down a bit (is fine on half throttle, its as soon as you go all the way it makes a weird bogging down noise, like a chainsaw getting stuck in a log.

I fitted mine with a K&N and a Samba pipe so it's bloody noisey. Feel really guilty running it just about anywhere. Sodding thing sounds like a motorcross bike.

Def a good idea to reset to factory. You could have a dirty carb or an air leak also. Make sure the carb base plate gasket is okay and that the carb is nice and clean. Automotive carb cleaner should remove any deposits, but you'll need to remove it to clean it properly.

Does it smoke a lot on full throttle?

It did when I first got it. But seems to be getting better now. Think the fuel it came with was too oily.

Going to get it out in a bit. See whats what. Turn some screws etc lol

Good man, I've got one of the latest generation Savages with the big bore shocks. Tis seriously fun, especially if you can find an empty skatepark... With a set of 1.5'' offset wheels on it even manages cornering (just).

Tbh if you want to buy new, this is probably the best of the cheap ones. Seems to be fairly well rated for the cash.

I have looked at the clone Bajas etc, from what i've read expect to be upgrading parts after most trips out with it.

The only one i'd consider new is the Baja 5B SS kit as you build it yourself
