Are there any advantages of buying a 3 year old instead of 2? Same with Male female?

I added the £3.25 fee incase the horse was good.

However the more I think about it, if the horse is that good that its gonna win the big races u have to enter, surely it will earn £65 easy. Rather than waste £3.25 everytime you buy one, may as well earn it with a good horse.

Im not sure if training and time lead to a faster horse? or if just training brings fitness up but doesn't improve overall speed etc. Cant find that out anywehere I look

You have a point, the 3.25 was wasted as my grade 2 horse looks rubbish

been speaking to an expert from a high winning stable this afternoon. Hes told me to retire all my horses as none are good enough.

Basically g2 needs to run 7.5 lengths clear in 1 of its first 3 trials, if you run trials at 1400, 2200, 2850 (all same track and going) 8.5 for a colt.

Mine are miles off the grade. he suggested claiming or auctioning for horses

Gonna stick to g3 racing for now, g2/1 is far too expensive to get into.

Just claimed a horse which isn't far off running good trials, its pretty close, and the expert recommended i run him in a few races, see how he does.

What happens when you retire them? Ive got a G1 horse thats 12+ lengths clear in its trials, G2 is only around 4 lengths, the one I bought ended up being a G3 and its rubbish.

Retired my G2, I could only enter it into paid races and it was never going to be good enough so wasnt paying stable fees for it, my G3 has came out of its shell a bit it and has won a few races now. Ive got another G3 18 Runs, 10 wins, 4 places, if I enter it into paid races is it possible to get the rating to go up if it continues its success, had a little read over the forum but theres so much to take in.

No will always be a g3.

You need to make sure it's 100% running in its best race. Then only run it in that type of race. Otherwise u will just waste your money

Claiming races are where you race, but people can buy your horse. So if you have a decent horse in g3, but you only race g1, you can sell it via claims. If no one buys, you still can win money from the races etc.

:/ im about that in, gonna try auction for a better horse

supposedly a g3 worthy of keeping comes for about12-15 quid

The big yards don't run them, so just sell them on
