As said on here, the mlr is your best bet to find a nice one. That way what ever one your looking at you can sear h the users previous posts to see what's been done to the car in the past.

Wouldn't buy a catD personally. Would be a nightmare to re sell and without the paper work is even worse.

My 6 I'd done 130k before took off the road......bores + head were perfect condition. I was expecting some major signs of wear but wasn't any.

As big eck has said mlr is the one stop forum for evo's imo. Some good lads on their + a lot of good cars too. As someone else has said go for a drive in a 6 and see what you think. You can pics a clean + solid 6 up for 6-8k with forged engine, suspension, uprated brakes + rs dif.

I'd avoid the ayc and if go for later car with acd, etc make sure have decent history for servicing as they can be a pain.

I've got a standard 8 FQ340 MR with 82k on. Might sell it in summer but I'd be looking at 9k as it's just had £700 of new tyres and discs/pads all round

If you're going to modify it, just buy one with the mods you'd buy anyway. Some people may see it as boring, but financially it saves you so much money

No port dundas, bloke was 100% the most honest ive spoke with in over 30 enquiries this week. Told me every single mark, everything. Obviously his honesty remains to be seen but he probably wouldnt tell me the spoiler had laquer peel but miss out the fact its fucked or a rotter lmao

Plans are standard for a year then mod once im 25 and insurance is better. Even then will only be coilies, exhaust and map performance wise. Will be buying fq400 bits though in abundance i imagine, bit i like buying bits myself.

Unless you have a very fat wallet leave the performance modifications well alone a mate bought his 6 with 500bhp and was just going to leave it at that, present day it's off the road getting a 2.4 stroker, just had a 5k dog box fitted amongst other things and he's about 20k poorer. Even standard power they are so much fun to drive, leave it at that and enjoy it.

Disagree with this somewhat, I've followed so many project threads over the years which involve people reaching their goals - then selling within a few months because they're bored

I think there are two types of modders:

Track Slags who mod to get laptimes, so your approach is wisest here.

Everyone else who mod the cars for something to do, and enjoy watching it develop over the months/years. I'm certainly the latter - so glad I got an almost standard car rather than a modded one

Back on topic, nice one J...Taylor. Looking forward to some pictures!
