Nah don't know her.

We do a lot of work for red 7. Mainly sea fastening. Good company to deal with. Cant beat the grub on most of their ships, the last one I went on was something out of this world. Wish id have got some pics of the food displays. Ice sculptures the lot!

Lee, we do loads of daughtercraft checks on the ships around here. Great bits of kit when we get to take them out, but most of the ones we see are ancient, and half the equipment barely works.

Went on one ship the other day, which is a search and rescue vessel. Went to test both craft, the first one, the battery isolator had failed and u had to keep weight on it to keep everything live. Then moved on to the second craft, and went to release the ratchet hold down straps. 2 of the 4 were seized solid. Had to cut the straps in the end. So if they had been involved in an operation the day before it came in to port, they would have never been able to launch the craft quickly, or even keep one running!

So if you need any service work done on any this way lee

Do you do any of Boston Putfords stuff? They tend to look after their's a bit better-apart from putting that one up the breakwater a few years back!

Do loads of putford stuff. The boats are all a right mess down here. Probably the worst we look after.

We don't do their daughtercraft or frv's. They are all done by their own guys.

Yeah, the rescue boat side seems well run at Putfords; I was down there not long ago doing some work across the road-at Small's (I think it was called Small's) on one of UK Border Forces RIBs and popped into Putfords' place across the road.

Tbh. We don't do enough boat work anymore. Our old manager of the ship repair department buggered off and retired. Taking some good customers with him.

They are only little ships

I must admit, when I first started working on them, when in the engine rooms, and another boat comes into the harbour, and u are rocking around. it kinda freaked me out. But also, whenyour down there, there's always alarms going off, and nobody really tells u what they mean. You just look at the crew and see them carrying on and assume its ok.

Daughtercraft checks hanging off the side of a boat in a force 6/7 is bad enough!

Yea. This time last year we had tonnes of snow. Really bad weather. Had some draught craft checks on a vos boat. It was awful. The only way to the craft was standing on a tiny steel bar which was soaked and slippery. Crapped myself!

Tbh tho. They ain't as bad as people make out. Some of the guys at work refuse to do ship work

Didn't realise you worked with VoS, we're currently building 11 new twinjet daughtercraft for ops out of Liverpool and Aberdeen. They used to have the Maritime Partners MP1000s but we've been awarded the new contract so hopefully you might start seeing some of our new phantoms rolling out of Lowestoft and Yarmouth soon!

Hmm maybe. We tend to get all the shit. Do they have service contracts with you when u sell them?

Do u have much to do with Atlantic offshore vessels?

No, don't work with Atlantic. We've got the Liverpool service contract with VoS but your neck of the woods would be too far away. Do you know Gordon Coull, VoS's workshop manager up in Montrose? He was in Yarmouth last week.

Nah I don't have anything to do with ship repair as a rule. Except going to do the inspections and any engine work. But te ship department dish the work out. We're an oil/gas business as a rule.
