Finally someone with good taste although not with ice.
Neat or a few drips of water.

I know it's personal opinion, but I think ice is a sin
But aye, a drop or two of water when you start venturing up the strength levels. Anything floating around the 40% mark I don't feel it adds anything.

You're a fan then!
Dad gets it pretty cheap too, will be angling for a bottle of A'bunadh from him for my Chistmas so that I can try it.

Whats a good "beginners" whiskey? I've never really been a fan of whiskeys, but that's from bar experience. Either JD or Jim beam etc. Didn't like either. But I like the idea of a nice whiskey. Any recommendations of something to try?

That depends entirely on where you would like to begin? Single malt? Blended? Bourbon? What other drinks do you like?

Not to far from you. Worth a trip to taste a few different ones without buying a bottle and finding its not for you.

Bought a bottle of single malt Glenfidditch. No matter how many times I try it I can't warm to it.

Glenfiddich is run of the mill. Not that great for any of the range.

I just think it's the taste of whiskey that I hate. Not a good start really!

Not all taste the same. You need to find what you like to drink. Do you like wine, port rum? Something sweet.

If you could recommend a sweet tasting less harsh whiskey I'd be thankful?

Try either Aberlour 10, Balvenie or a Macallan.

So over the last few months I've tried quite a few more.
Current favourite single malts are;
Jura Superstition
Oban 14yr
Also tried Laphroaig 10yr which is the single worst thing I have ever experienced!
My brother in law got me a Lakes Distillery 'The One' for Christmas which is ok but I won't be buying another bottle.
