It's the oil recirculation tank. Helps stop oil accumulating in the head at very high revs and possible oil starvation of the crankshaft by sending it back down to the sump.

Aaaaah excellent! I always wondered where the recirc tank was positioned. I suppose putting it there makes sense when on TB's. Fantastic looking engine too.Is it using an ITG air filter?

one other thing, the top pipe runs from the cylinder head, and the one below goes to the sump, what are the other two that lead towards to bulkhead?

Alrite Dave! - thanks for the comments on the engine. Yes it's an ITG filter, but over the winter, I'm installing an alu box around the air horns. This will have panel filter in the top and will be fed by a sealed trunking system from the front of the bonnet which seals around the box when you close the bonnet. Will enable me to fit longer air horns too
One of the other pipes acts as a vent and I think the other one taps into the manifold vacuum to help draw the oil back down. TBH not completely sure as when I picked the car up, the guy who installed it wasn't there to give me the full technical explanation of the plumbing

Yes - saves 10kg from engine bay yet can still produce 685amps of cranking current

£80 - standard battery is around £40ish, so it's a relatively cheap way to shed 10kgs

- you crack me up Kerry, but you're right - a nice bunch of people came along and looking forward to meeting them again soon
BTW - good news from ProTec. Just a bent selector fork. Gearbox is fine otherwise. They're sourcing a newer uprated fork for me

Fraudster - I didn't bid for the plate while it was on eBay, I just bought it straight from Cheesy for a good price
Kerry - I did not help Andy break his car, he did that all by himself
Clare was very helpful in Halfords, although the bloke at the till didn't appear to like our singing...
